FIND YOUR FUTURE 2023

Monday 6th March

Thibau Grumett - Tackling Life, the Entrepreneurial way | 10.45 - 11.30
This talk covers the basic tools and skills required to start a venture, from meeting the right people to testing the market. I’ll also share some stories from my time at Worksop College and tell you how I went from an aspiring surgeon to an entrepreneur. Bring your pen and paper because by the time you leave, you’ll be ready to start your own business.

If you are a future businessman, businesswoman, or think one day you may want to start your own company, this talk is applicable to almost all industries and could be good for students who don’t yet know what they want to do in life.

Jaime Armstrong - A LinkedIn Masterclass | 15.45 - 16.30
Jaime is a technical recruiter, her niche market being within data, data science and analytics, recruiting candidates from graduate level right through to senior directors.

Jaime uses LinkedIn day in and day out - 90% of her candidates come from active headhunting on her LinkedIn profile.

Ready to get our Sixth Formers excited about the world after Worksop College, Jaime will talk them through setting up a profile, how best to get the most out of it and how to keep it up-to-date.

Tuesday 7th March

Sarah Maskell - Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging | 14-14.45

She was also awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List. Sarah will be speaking to our Year 11s about diversity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace.

Wednesday 8th March

Learn to Earn | 9-12.15
In a rapidly changing world, more than ever, young people need support to make informed choices about future careers.
Learn to Earn motivates students by encouraging them to consider financial plans for the future, set goals and think about their future study options. Learn to Earn provides students with a clearer understanding of the routes to jobs and careers that they will find engaging and rewarding. It widens students’ horizons, challenges stereotypes and raises aspirations. It provides students with knowledge of the skills necessary to make successful transitions to the next stage of their life.
Through hands on practical activities, Learn to Earn explores themes such as personal skills and talents, career choices, recruitment, job interviews, salaries, earnings, tax and the
cost of living, financial planning and budgeting. Interactive activities provide students with the opportunity to learn about the job and career opportunities available, and to consider how their personal strengths and preferences may fit with different career paths. Year 7 and 8 will spend the morning with the team from Young Enterprise - we can't wait.

Thursday 9th March

I'm in! From Worksop to Dragon's Den | 9-4.30

He is a seasoned visionary leader and strategist who transfers and shares his knowledge and experience through training, facilitation and coaching. He operates at any level and is adept at engaging with all stakeholders. He has proven experience of working internationally for many government and commercial organisations and has a unique ability to engage and encourage those around him using his high levels of energy, drive and enthusiasm. Grant will be joining us during FYF to take our Year 9s from students to entrepreneurs, encouraging them to set up their own businesses, igniting the entrepreneurial spirit in the students and inspiring them to think outside the box, solve problems, increase confidence and self-esteem and follow their passions from a young age.

Nottinghamshire Armed Police - Theatre | 9-9.45
Coming in from Nottinghamshire Armed Police, our speakers will speak to our Year 7s and 8s about a career in the police force, as well as working in close protection for A-listers and the Royal Family. Students will have the opportunity to have a look around the police vehicle, as well a full police kit. Some officers even appeared on popular TV programme, Police Interceptors. We're looking forward to finding out a little more about life in the police force.

David Tate - Going once. Going Twice. Sold! - Theatre | 11.30-12.15
David became a Chartered Surveyor in 1995 when he joined Mitchell and Slaney in Chesterfield and was quickly made a partner. The partnership merged with Bothams in 2000 to become one of the largest local firms of Chartered Surveyors in the area. He took over the property auctions department and grew this part of the business with significant success. In 2003 he bought the practice of John H Copeland & Co which later became Copelands. He significantly enhanced the auction department and developed property management, survey and valuation work. We wonder what he could be auctioning off to our Year 7 and 8s!

Young Entrepreneur Panel | 15-15.45
Matthew McClune - Matthew McClune’s business, ‘The Build Chain’ was formed early 2020. When Covid hit around March 2020 the construction sector was forced to adapt to digital technology in order to continue doing business, so it provided an opportunity to accelerate the development of the idea as the market was adopting change at a quicker pace. Due to developing a minimum viable product and fundraising efforts, the business didn't become “full time” until March 2021. The Build Chain is an online platform that connects Contractors nationally, with Suppliers locally in the UK construction sector through one centralised digital dashboard. Contractors submit enquiries to hire equipment or buy materials through our system and in a matter of seconds we connect them with Suppliers local to site with the required stock, whilst providing data analytics to evidence Social Value, Compliance & Governance and Environmental Sustainability. Matthew joins the Young Entrepreneur Panel to talk about the highs and lows of setting up your own business.
Jessica and Amelia Wells - These ambitious sisters turned their passion into their career! They started their business by baking and selling their delicious cakes from their own kitchen. Popularity grew, meaning that the pair were recently able to open the Little Brunette Bakery in Southwell.
Emily Straw - Emily is a freelance artist, painting portraits and creating digital content for businesses. She has designed events, created digital content for social media, activated viral TikTok campaigns, and conceptualised in-store experiences. We are looking forward to having her as part of our entrepreneurial panel.

Fred Copestake - Unlocking Your Potential | 15.45-16.30
On leaving The University of Birmingham in 1993 with an honours degree in Commerce and Spanish (including a year at ICADE, Universidad Pontifice Comillas, Madrid) Fred worked for the IMI Group, moving through various roles including Product Manager to become European Business Development Manager. Over the last 22 years, Fred has travelled round the world 14 times, visiting 36 countries and working with over 10,000 salespeople. From this experience Fred recognised what really makes a difference to be successful in sales today and outlined this in his first book 'Selling Through Partnering Skills’. As selling continues to change at pace, and sales professionals need to keep in touch with the latest trends to stay relevant he wrote his second book ‘Hybrid Selling’.

Friday 10th March

Courtney Alves and Leala Jackson - From Marketing to Selling: Building a Brand with CNS | 13.15-14.45

She writes compelling, valuable and relevant content from blogs, newsletters, social media posts and paid ads - capturing the true essence of every brand's story online. She uses video, organic content and advertising to output her creative content, which she sees from concept to completion. On the side, Leala is a micro-influencer running her own foodie Instagram account called Meats and Cheats.
