Ranby and Worksop musicians are tutored by a team of first-class music professionals. A vibrant practice culture exists: early morning supervised practice sessions take place twice a week, and the suite of practice rooms is open each day and evening. Not a week goes by without a musical performance of one sort or another, from informal lunchtime recitals and teatime concerts, to large-scale choral and orchestral works, to impromptu band jamming sessions.
Classes in music theory and aural skills are popular, and prospective music scholarship candidates attend Scholarship Preparation sessions. College Music Scholars have tailored practice sessions built into their weekly routine. We offer a “Music+” course to Year 9 pupils, consisting of additional academic music lessons for those considering taking GCSE Music.
We nurture cultured, rounded musicians: to complement an impressive range of performance opportunities both in and beyond the school, musicians attend masterclasses, lectures and workshops. Trips and tours offer a wider cultural perspective.
