Dr. Jon Dallimore spent the weekend at Worksop College teaching a group of staff and students all things survival.
Dr. Dallimore is one of the most well-known figures in expedition medicine and has had a long and inspiring career as a doctor, teacher, and International Mountain Leader.
The course took things well beyond traditional first aid, to cover a range of skills that might be required when travelling in remote areas.
The group looked at topics such as: splinting, examining patients’ eyes and ears, treating snake bites, the use of antibiotics to treat infection, altitude sickness, and the medical supplies to carry.
Teacher of Biology, Mr. Neil Gwynne said:
“Everyone hopes that they will not have to use their new knowledge and skills, but it was certainly good preparation for some of the more interesting trips that Worksop College staff and students get involved in!”
