From aspiring Lionesses and investment bankers to dancers and historians, Worksop College pupils are celebrating bright futures as they receive their A Level results.
As a broad-ability school dedicated to bringing out the best in every pupil, Worksop College is proud to see its pupils secure places at some of the country’s top universities and most competitive apprenticeship schemes.
Celebrating exceptional success is Archie Sims, who achieved A*s across the board and secured a coveted Degree Apprenticeship. Starting in September, Archie will join Goldman Sachs' FICC and Equities Degree Apprenticeship programme, a prestigious opportunity that combines rigorous academic studies with practical experience at one of the world’s leading financial institutions.
Joining Archie on cloud nine is Ted Ruston, who will use his A*AA results to take on an apprenticeship at Hawsons Chartered Accountants in Sheffield. This opportunity allows Ted to stay close to his cricketing roots, as an active member of Tickhill Cricket Club. Best friend and fellow cricketer, Louie Owens, was thrilled with his A* A B, which he takes to Leeds University to study Genetics.
Cricket isn’t the only sport celebrated by the leavers of 2024. Fran Graff and Izzy Oldroyd, who joined Worksop College as part of the Girls Football Academy, a programme designed to enable girls to complete their academic studies alongside a rigorous football training plan, have also made impressive strides. Izzy achieved A* A C and is heading to Maryville University in Missouri, while Fran, with a stellar result of Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction, will be moving on to Mars Hill University in North Carolina. Teammate Tanaka Chitengu has received a football scholarship at the University of Stirling to read Psychology and Philosophy.
Captain and Vice-Captain of School Sam Sanders and Tilly Marsden are both heading off to Durham University, to read History and Psychology respectively, where they will also be joined by Luke Naylor who is studying Accounting. Ukrainian Illya Govorunov, who joined Worksop College on a scholarship, was thrilled to achieve an impressive A* A* A* B in his A Levels, and will now go on to study Physics & Theoretical Physics at Imperial College, London.
Head of Choir and Music Scholar Ebony Broughton has balanced her A-Level studies with a busy performance schedule, travelling far and wide as the frontwoman of several music groups. Her dedication is reflected in her outstanding results, earning an A in Music, along with Grade 8 in both trumpet and vocals. Ebony will now take her talents to Newcastle University, where she will study Music, continuing to build on these impressive achievements.
Also excelling on stage is Emily Hardy, a high-performing dancer who has achieved remarkable results with Distinction, A, and C in her A Levels. Throughout her time at Worksop College, Emily has balanced her studies with her dancing pursuits, receiving strong support for her extracurricular endeavours. Recently, she competed in Prague, where she represented England in the Dance World Cup.
Beth Keeley is leaving Worksop College with impressive results: AAA in Biology, English Literature, and History, alongside an A* in her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). She will be using these achievements to pursue a degree in History at Birmingham University.
A special moment for Tilly Came, who celebrated her admission into Exeter University with her mum and teacher, Dr Dewar-Watson. Tilly was just three marks off a full house in one of her English modules, prompting her to study it further as her next steps.
Amidst the individual success stories, the College is also celebrating a significant increase in the number of top grades at A* and A*-A, as well as those at grades A*-C. In addition to these headline attainment figures, it is also pleasing to report an increase in value added, which reflects overall academic progress.
