On Saturday 4 January, Year 10 pupil, Amelia, took part in the Nottinghamshire AAA County XC Championships 2020.
The event took place at a very muddy Shipley Park in Heanor, for all runners aged U11 upwards to adult. Amelia represented Newark AC in the U15 girls’ race against the best runners in the county, which was a tough two lap 4.2km course.
Amelia had a strong run and managed to cross the line, unchallenged in 1st place, 44 seconds ahead of her nearest rival. Shortly afterwards, the President of the Notts AAA presented her with her 1st place gold medal, as the Notts County U15G XC Champion. She will now go forward, as part of the Nottinghamshire team, to take on the country's best runners at the National Inter-Counties in March. A great start to her competitive season.
In her next race, Amelia will represent Worksop College, as part of the Bassetlaw Team, in the Nottinghamshire County Schools XC Championships on the Saturday 1 February.
Congratulations Amelia and good luck in your next race!
