Swimming is a key sport at Worksop College, offering opportunities for all abilities, from beginners to elite-level competitors. With a dedicated coaching team, a 25-yard indoor swimming pool and excellent facilities, our pupils train, compete, and excel at regional and national levels.

Pupil achievements

  • Jake, Y13 – Gold (100m backstroke, National record time: 1.58.27), Silver (50m butterfly), Gold (4x50m freestyle relay), Silver (4x50m medley relay).

  • Max, Y12 – Gold (50m freestyle, Para division).

  • Euan, Y12 – Gold (4x50m freestyle relay), Silver (4x50m medley relay).

  • Emilio McCann – Silver (50m breaststroke), Silver (4x50m medley relay).

Training & Pathways 

Worksop College provides a structured swimming development programme:

  • Competitive Squad: A swim team that trains together and competes in fixtures and galas.

  • ISA Qualification Events: Midlands representation at finals in London each year.

  • Beginner Sessions: For those looking to start or improve in the sport.

  • Scholar Sessions: Additional training with club coaches in the mornings.

  • Rehabilitation Sessions: For injured athletes in other sports.

Scholarships 

We offer scholarships to talented swimmers who demonstrate exceptional ability and commitment to the sport. Our scholarship programme provides access to specialist coaching, structured training, and additional support to help athletes reach their full potential.

Swimming scholars receive:

  • Three club coaching sessions per week before school.

  • Breakfast included post-training.

  • Tailored gym sessions to enhance performance.
