Ranby House is proud to announce the global release of their original song, Our Special Story, now available for streaming on Spotify, Amazon, Google, and Apple Music. The song, written by the school’s Director of Music, Ashley Thompson, and performed by Year 3 and Year 4 students, captures the heart of the school’s core values.
Recording the song in a professional studio was an unforgettable experience for the children, and it’s now available for the world to hear. All proceeds from the streaming and download of Our Special Story will be donated to Neuroblastoma UK, a charity chosen by the school community.
Tori Oldridge, a parent at Ranby House, nominated Neuroblastoma UK in memory of her brother, Matthew, who tragically passed away from the disease in 1982 at the age of five. Neuroblastoma UK was founded by Tori’s parents in his honour, and it also holds special meaning for a member of the Ranby House teaching staff who recently lost a family member to the same illness.
Imogen Dalrymple, Senior Fundraising Co-ordinator at Neuroblastoma UK, expressed her gratitude: “We are delighted that Ranby House School is supporting us in this beautifully creative way. Hopefully, lots of people will listen and download their tracks to not only appreciate the wonderful music, but also raise funds for Neuroblastoma UK. Doing so will help fund essential research into more effective and kinder treatments and a cure for this disease.”
David Thorpe, Headmaster of Ranby House, highlighted the importance of the project: “This song embodies everything that makes our school community special, from showing respect and being kind, to always doing our best. It’s a powerful reminder of our values, and to have our students involved in something that supports such an important cause is truly meaningful for us all.”
