Be it presenting the World Cup, taking the Euros trophy, or eating a witchetty grub – we’ve all seen Jill Scott MBE on our television screens recently. However, the girls attending the JS8 Football Camp were able to learn a little more about the icon, as she dialled in to have a chat with the aspiring Lionesses.
The camp, which took place on the 20th December, was a collaboration between the Worksop College Girls’ Football Academy, and JS8, Jill Scott’s Academy. The coaching team was rich with experience, as Sam Brown, Head Coach at JS8, joined with Paul Wilkinson, English ex footballer and WCGFA Director, and Christian Beaumont, WCGFA Coach, to bring the camp together. Inspired by watching the England Lionesses lift the 2022 Euros trophy, over 20 female footballers attended the camp which followed the JS8 footballing syllabus, curated by Jill Scott herself.
To kick-start the day, the girls took part in a ball manipulation masterclass, then went on to an afternoon of passing and possession-based focus. The girls were given opportunities over the course of the day to show what they had learnt in friendly matches – a great experience for any budding pro footballer.
Before the day drew to a close, the team came together to have a Q&A session with Jill, learning all about her rise to the top, key pieces of advice and footballing tips!
The camp was a brilliant success, so much so that plenty more will take place in the near future. Keep an eye out for JS8 camps at Worksop College HERE. Find out about the WCGFA, in partnership with Jill Scott HERE.
