Worksop College Classics and Latin students from Lower Sixth and Yr11 attended an afternoon workshop at the University of Lincoln on Tuesday 20 June.
The students started the day with a seminar on epigraphy, before being shown a demonstration of the cutting edge scanning and visualisation techniques, that have made the University a world leader in technological approaches to the study of the ancient world.
They also had the opportunity to examine Roman inscriptions close-up in the University’s labs, and go to a lecture given by one of the world’s leading Roman scholar’s, Dr Roger Tomlin of Oxford University.
Dr Adam Gutteridge, Head of Religious Studies & PSHE said:
“The day gave everyone a real insight into university-level research and teaching, and allowed our students to witness how brand new approaches to the classical world are increasing our understanding of both past and present.”
